Challenge
This one-time blacksmith shop occupied a space too narrow to rebuild in, so innovative renovation was required to create a modern, structurally sound home.
Solution
B&V put up scaffolding on the first floor to support the upper level and then cut around the ground floor and suspended the entire house to lay a new foundation. The artist owners were so inspired by their ‘floating’ home that they held a neighbourhood party mid way through construction to admire the inventive approach.
